I first discovered this spot while searching for a quiet and remote location to fish for pollock. Resting at the end of a single track road this small collection of houses and a very empty campsite offers the most breathtaking views of the surrounding islands and beaches.

The toothy rugged coast line that surrounds this area is littered with small soft sandy beaches that are fairly easy to access. If you want true solace there are lots of smaller beaches that can only be accessed by clambering over the rocks, kayak, paddle board or boat. Visiting these is a guaranteed way to get your own private beach experience.

If you would rather stay close by to the car the small collection of houses is littered with sheep and horses that wander the location freely and provide hours of viewing. The beaches around the car park are a little busier but never overcrowded.

Scotland has beaches in abundance and fortunately for the people that don't mind getting a bit cold, the masses only tend to visit them in the warmer months. Visiting this location just before the height of summer guarantees you a quiet and peaceful beach retreat. If you do decide to venture out on a hot weekend be sure to get there early as the parking is limited to about 3 cars.
